Latest Updates from Our Project:

Realms of Pugmire Digital Reward Distribution
29 days ago – Wed, Jul 24, 2019 at 08:57:22 PM

Avast, me hearties!

I combined our regular month end update in last week's note about the Survey's going out,  but I didn't want to wait until next month to share this - a big digital reward from our list.

So, topics for today:

1. Digital Reward Distribution
2. Backerkit reminders

DIGITAL REWARD DISTRIBUTION

Many of the rewards for our kickstarter projects take a lot of time and effort to complete. Usually, the kickstarter is a means of moving the project from an idea (even when it's a mostly-fully-written idea) into the actual channel that turns it into a project/product. It'll be a while before we're ready to talk about delivery on Pirates of Pugmire, and even longer for the project generated via Stretch Goals (the Interstitial Adventure).

That said, there are a few rewards that are available now, as they were mostly add-on bundles of existing products. And now, we can work on getting those out to you before the week ends.

Realms of Pugmire Digital PDF Rewards Available :

    - Pugmire Core Rules PDF

    - Monarchies of Mau Core Rules PDF

   - "Treasure Chest" PDF Bundle, which includes:

       1. Pan's Guide for New Pioneers PDF

       2. Roll of Good Dogs & Cats PDF

       3. Secret of Vinsen's Tomb PDF

       4. Pugmire Guide Screen PDF

       5. Monarchies of Mau Guide Screen PDF

       6. Pugmire and Monarchies of Mau Digital Wallpapers

REWARD DISTRIBUTION

Your link to claim these digital rewards will be sent out by our BackerKit pledge manager over the next day. Since we are using our partners at DriveThruRPG as the host for this, you will need to set up a DriveThru account if you don't have one already. If you encounter any problems with downloading your rewards, please contact DTRPG's customer service to resolve the matter, they've always been top-rated for customer service. http://www.drivethrurpg.com/contact_us.ph

Again, you will receive an e-mail from BackerKit with links for these rewards over the next 24 hours if any of them are on your expected list of rewards. I'll be releasing them in waves, so don't panic if you only see a single link at first... the rest are coming.

The easiest way to see if you've got digital downloads available is to login to your backerkit account: https://pirates-of-pugmire.backerkit.com/backer/digital_rewards and it'll show anything available. Your backerkit account should also confirm all rewards that you should expect from your reward tier selected.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://pirates-of-pugmire.backerkit.com/

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at  https://pirates-of-pugmire.backerkit.com/faq

If you had added on one of these existing Realms of Pugmire titles or bundles, but haven't yet completed your survey - remember to confirm your Add Ons in BackerKit. There's more info in our earlier Survey post <here>

If you have any other questions or concerns, you can post them to the comments for this update, the comment section, or contact the team via the Contact Creator link on the kickstarter page and Rich will forward it to me.

You'll hear from me again next month with our regular month-end status update.

Surveys Going Out This Week!
about 1 month ago – Wed, Jul 17, 2019 at 05:49:13 PM

Ahoy, me hearties!

It's been a bit quiet since the end of the campaign, but that was all about getting ready for the next leg of our journey ... and here we are!

It's Cap'n James, your point person for this campaign.
It's Cap'n James, your point person for this campaign.

BACKER SURVEYS

Over the next few days, you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts.

If you have any other questions or concerns, you can post them to the comments for this update, the comment section, or contact the team via the Contact Creator link on the kickstarter page and Rich will forward it to me.

Once we've got a fair response to our survey and collected a reasonable amount of info, I'll be working on fulfilling rewards that are available now - like the PDFs of the titles included in the Treasure Chest bundles, as well as the Pugmire and Mau core rulebook PDFs.

MONTH END SUMMARY UPDATE

We're about to start getting into the regular rhythm of month-end status updates. It's a pretty involved and dynamic process, creating these books, so I want to ensure that I have constant and consistent communication with all backers. Each month, I'll be providing a status update for our rewards (usually nothing more complicated than "delivered" or "pending"), as well as sharing information about this project and other Onyx Path projects where possible.

Many of these updates will be similar - these projects take a fair amount of time to build, and some stages are multi-part processes, so a book in "Development" may not show incremental updates in our monthly summary, but there's always forward progress being made.

REWARD TRACKING - Completed Rewards (Sent to Backers)

- All rewards currently pending

REWARD TRACKING - PENDING

- Pirates of Pugmire PDF
- Pirates of Pugmire Hardcover
- Pirates of Pugmire PoD Coupon
- Backer T-Shirt Redbubble Link

- Bonus Adventure PDF
- Pirates of Pugmire Guide Screen
- Pugmire Guide Screen
- Pugmire Dice Set
- Mau Dice Set
- Pugmire core rulebook PDF
- Monarchies of Mau core rulebook PDF
- Treasure Chest PDF Bundle

I'll post our list of delivered and pending rewards with each monthly update, so that we can track everything that's needed and keep on the same page. Also, feel free to check out Onyx Path's Monday Meeting Notes posts (linked here) which will give you a weekly status report on ALL of the projects Onyx Path has on the go (you may see spoilers for my monthly updates, or see what other kickstarter campaigns are currently running).

Speaking of which...

We're at the halfway point in our latest campaign, with 12 Stretch Goals unlocked and 60% of the manuscript currently available for Backers to preview. (We'll have the complete manuscript posted by the end of the campaign - you know the drill!)

Gen Con 2019 Note
about 1 month ago – Thu, Jul 11, 2019 at 05:22:01 PM

Avast me hearties!

I  just wanted to throw a quick update out to let you know about Onyx Path and Gen Con 2019.

It's Gen Con James, trying on his new outfit.
It's Gen Con James, trying on his new outfit.

As you may have read in Onyx Path's recent Monday Meeting Notes blog, they won't have a booth in the Exhibit Hall this year. But that doesn't mean that Onyx Path won't be at the convention, or that you won't be able to pick up copies of your favorite games.

Instead, Onyx Path will be running seminars and game sessions, and leave the Exhibit Hall business to their sales partners - Studio 2 Publishing and Indie Press Revolution (IPR).

The Onyx Path team (Rich, Matt, Eddy, whoever else shows up...) will mostly be participating in the following panels during the convention:

  • Thursday 3pm – What’s Up With Onyx Path Publishing? panel (Rich Thomas version)
  • Friday 11am – What’s Up with Onyx Path Community Content? panel
  • Friday 3pm – Freelancing with Onyx Path Publishing? panel
  • Saturday 11am – What’s Up with Onyx Path Publishing? panel (Rich-less version)

In addition, there are some programmed game sessions in the Event Guide.

While most of the games are currently marked as sold out this close to the convention, it's always a good idea to double-check if you're really interested. There are sometimes drop outs if people aren't feeling well or are unable to show, and a handful of generic tickets can maybe get you slotted into a vacated chair.

Of course, there will likely be a ton of pick-up and casual games over the Best Four Days in Gaming, so keep your eyes open for anyone wearing a cool T-shirt! I'll be dressed just like my avatar (although it's a few years old now, so imagine with more white in the beard!) so feel free to say hello if you see me!

I'll be back soon, to announce our survey launch and start a regular update schedule!

DROP ANCHOR! WE'VE ARRIVED IN PORT!
about 2 months ago – Tue, Jun 25, 2019 at 04:58:48 PM

Avast & Ahoy, me hearties!

What a voyage! What a magnificent trip! We took advantage of the wind when it was blowing, and put our backs into it and rowed hard when it wasn't. And, after 30 amazing days, we have arrived at our destination!

Thanks to every member of this crew, we have funded the creation of Pirates of Pugmire!

The real treasure was the friends we made along the way!
The real treasure was the friends we made along the way!

And not only that! Did we hit some Stretch Goals along the way?

AYE, we did!

Achieved! -  KICKSTARTER BACKER T-SHIRT – Hosted on the redbubble store for a limited time, a Pirates of Pugmire-themed shirt will be priced at a steep discount. All backers will be notified when the shirt becomes available.

Achieved! - DIGITAL WALLPAPER – An awesome digital wallpaper for your computer desktop featuring art from the Pirates of Pugmire. All backers will have this automatically added to their rewards list.

Achieved! - INTERSTITIAL ADVENTURE – Eddy and his team will create a new Pirate-themed adventure that can work by itself or be easily inserted between "Rotten Rats" and "The Race," two of the adventures that are included in the Pirates of Pugmire. This interstitial adventure will be released via PDF and automatically added to the rewards list of all backers receiving the Pirates of Pugmire PDF.

Achieved! - ART BUDGET INCREASE –  Additional funds will be allocated to the art budget, adding more swashbuckling art to the Pirates of Pugmire book.

AYE AYE AYE AYE, Cap'n!

We fought hard and kept going even when the seas were ruff... I mean rough.
We fought hard and kept going even when the seas were ruff... I mean rough.

THANK YOU!

So, thank you to all the backers who supported us and made this happen. And a personal thanks to everyone who participated online, either in the comments section of the kickstarter or on social media around the web. Thank you for sharing info about your pets (especially lizard and bird owners, newly added to the Realms of Pugmire!), and pun-filled pirate ship names, and so much more!

When we launched this project, I had anticipated a long voyage, but it went by so swiftly that I can barely remember setting sail now! What a trip! Spirits were high the entire time, and even when we faced challenges and were unsure if we'd reach our destination, everyone pitched in and kept us afloat! Well done!

COMMUNICATION

So, as noted in an earlier post, I'll be sending out updates once a month and whenever we've got a new goal, survey, or other item to cover. If you have any questions or need clarification on something related to the kickstarter, you can leave it in the comment section - I will be notified with every addition. Or, you can find the Contact Creator button and Rich will forward your message to me.

For setting stuff and questions about the game itself, it's probably best to post to the  Pugmire forums on the Onyx Path website: http://forum.theonyxpath.com/forum/main-category/cavaliers-of-mars-and-pugmire

So, thanks to everyone for helping build this crew and celebrating the swashbuckling stories that we can tell with our good dogs and curious cats and mysterious lizards and fine-feathered bird friends!

Now to attend to other business (What? My kids are home for the summer? Time to divvy up the chores!!) and eventually collapse for a few hours and recover from the awesomeness of the last couple days! High fives in the comment section, and you'll hear from me again soon...

FINAL HOURS: CHECKLIST & WHAT COMES NEXT
2 months ago – Thu, Jun 20, 2019 at 08:38:58 AM

Avast & Ahoy, me hearties,

Welcome to the final hours of the voyage. What an amazing ride this campaign has been!

It's James, your navigator on this campaign cruise
It's James, your navigator on this campaign cruise

As I prepare to post this, we are SIX hours from the end of this campaign, and approaching our final destination! We caught some tremendous wind over the past week, and our sails and ship have carried us far!

Amazing job, everyone!

We've had a massive wave of new backers join in over the past few days (hi, new crew!), and many backers adding on to their rewards or changing their reward levels. I wanted to  review the overall method to ensure you've set up your rewards, and then talk about what comes next.

1. REWARD TIER, ADD-ONs, PLEDGE TOTAL

Please ensure you've selected the Reward Tier that best represents your desired rewards for this project. An update breaking down all of the Reward Tier decisions is HERE <link>, summarized by this chart:

Click here to launch a hundred cannon version of this chart
Click here to launch a hundred cannon version of this chart

Once you're sure you've selected the correct Reward Tier, double-check to see if there are any rewards that you want to include via ADD-ON, as described in the update HERE <link>.

Your REWARD TIER determines what your base rewards are - you must select a Reward Tier to receive those rewards. Again, your reward list is based on your Reward Tier, not your total pledge amount.

Your PLEDGE TOTAL is the sum of your REWARD TIER + SHIPPING + ADD-ONs.

Shipping is calculated automatically by Kickstarter, based on your location. Add On rewards will be selected in the post-campaign pledge manager sent out once payment processing is complete.

SO: Ensure that you've selected the Reward Tier you want, and included funding for any Add Ons you wish to include. AND - make sure that you are comfortable with the Pledge Total amount, in terms of it covering everything you want and its' affordability.

And remember - any physical reward Add On (additional books, Guide Screen) can only be added to reward tiers that include the hardcover book (Carrier reward tier and higher).

AGAIN: Review your pledge amount and make sure it is affordable for your circumstances. Remember, you are pledging this amount to fund the creation of the Pirates of Pugmire PDF + prestige hardcover book. As a thank you, you'll be receiving the rewards listed for your chosen Reward Tier on the Reward Tier chart. We've come a long way on this journey, but there's still a long (and exciting!) road ahead of us, so this is the last chance to turn back before we press on!

2. PAYMENT AND CONTACT INFORMATION

Once you're comfortable with your pledge, please ensure that the payment and contact information in your kickstarter account is up to date and correct. Making sure your e-mail is entered correctly and your credit card isn't expired will speed up the next step process. (I have learned from experience!)

WHAT COMES NEXT?

3. AFTER THE CAMPAIGN ENDS

First, we celebrate. Kickstarter will send out a "Hooray!" email confirming the campaign ended with final totals. We'll give high fives in the comments section.

Then, the Kickstarter payment process begins. Over the next week, kickstarter will begin charging your payment methods for the total amount you've pledged.

If there is an issue with your payment method (expired credit card or incorrect number or pre-paid Visa awaiting funds, for example), Kickstarter will keep trying to process payment during this time.

Once this step is done, which will likely be early-July, Kickstarter will confirm everything with Onyx Path and transfer the funds over to them (less the Kickstarter fees, of course!).

Once the payment is confirmed, I can begin to set up the project with BackerKit and link it to the Kickstarter data.

BackerKit is a robust fulfillment integration and pledge management program that will allow us to work with all of the data and distribute the rewards to you. It will take me a few weeks to set the project up. Once I've got it all entered and built, the team from BackerKit will review to ensure I didn't mess anything up too badly, and then I'll make any changes they've suggested and we can move on to the Survey stage.

4. BACKERKIT SURVEYS

Once BackerKit says I'm good to go, I will send out a survey to all backers. This is why confirming your e-mail is important!

The BackerKit survey is both a verb and a noun - it will collect data for the analysis of some aspect of a group (enabling Onyx Path to set print runs, prioritize new projects, and fine-tune future kickstarters), as well as providing a general review or summary of the reward tier you've chosen, confirm all of the rewards associated with that reward tier, and confirm your total pledge amount.

I expect Surveys to go out by the end of July. If you opted to include any Add-On rewards to your pledge, this is the point where you will select them. BackerKit will deduct the cost of your reward tier (+shipping) from your total pledge and show you how much you have to allocate for add-on purchases. You simply select the ones you want and proceed. From that point forward, those add-ons will be included in your list of rewards.

During the Survey period, you can also also choose to increase your reward tier. If you've managed to find a buried treasure chest (Yar! Booty!) and decide it's time to trade up to get two copies of the book or include another add-on, you can do so at this time. Note, you will not be able to reduce your reward tier selection, only increase.

If there was an issue with payment to Kickstarter, you should also be able to address that at this point in the process.

The survey will ask you to confirm your shipping address, even though it'll be some time before we ship out the final product. Do not worry about moving before shipping begins - you will be able to update BackerKit right up until the point that we begin fulfilling the final book. We will send out a notice prior to lock down so you can update any information.

I'll also use the Survey to confirm some details for the limited and premium reward tiers.

5. REWARD DISTRIBUTION

This is a long process, but I will send out regular updates (usually at the end of the month) to keep you up to speed on our progress. There will be strings of updates that are just "still working on it," but I will share new artwork or information when I can.

Eventually, we will have a completed PDF of the Pirates of Pugmire. We'll take some time to distribute, review, and compile any errata or corrections that need to be made. When we've made any necessary changes, we'll send out updated copy of the PDFs and then begin creating print-ready files for the Print-on-Demand and prestige hardcover version.

It's yet another long voyage ahead, but one that we wouldn't be on if not for your support.
